James Turner
James began working in tile mosaic a decade
ago, originally building all of his own
furniture pieces from lodge pole pine recycled
from clear cut forests in Idaho and Montana.
As time progressed he wanted to focus
strictly on the mosaic aspect of his work, and
began commissioning local metal artists to
create works of iron and steel. This allowed
James to concentrate more on the details of the
mosaic and less on the furniture. He also likes
to use antique pieces to create all new
creations. In 2004 James was published in Mosaics
for the First Time, an instructional manual.  He
has been teaching increasingly popular tile
mosaic classes for several years throughout
Boise.   He has traveled abroad through Europe
to fine tune his skill and technique,
incorporating larger color schemes and imagery.
He remains Boise’s premiere tile mosaic
artist, as well as dedicating much of his free
time to local community art programs,
    community radio and environmental causes.
His classes are still available through The
Fort Boise Community Center Art Program.
He can be found at Capital City Market
every Saturday, as well as Art Under The Stars
every First Thursday in downtown Boise.

Some of the best
American mosaic I've seen
This is some of the best domestic tile
mosaic work I've ever seen, and I've
been setting tile for 12 years.
Not  cheap, hokey or crafty
and the quality  in craftsmanship
is obvious.
I can't  believe its handcut.
Really nice work.
