| SIMON- Simon is a multi-talented artist from Salt lake City. She began working with oils and acrylic as a teenager. Since then she has developed an extensive library of work, including her own self-published book SIMON ART IN 1998, and the popular Utah zine 'Thunk'. While living in a hobbit hole throughout the 90's she began playing bass guitar, and moved on to songwriting and percussion. In the Summer of 1995, she and friends Tarey P and Melinda Dawn founded the group Gideon’s Garden. This improvisational, experimental dark music was a main focus for Simon until things died out around 1997. It was during this time she was able to do her first art show at Playskool, a local multi-media gallery and club in downtown Salt Lake City. Included in the show were several paintings and a sculpture titled 'Smarty Leonid' created by her, Tarey and Melinda. The show lasted for several months and pieces were used in the Trent Harris film Plan 10 from Outer Space. Simon moved on to exploring the world of beat mixing and DJ work. with her exceptional knowledge of rhythm, she supplied beats for many up and coming bands forming in the Salt Lake Valley. She has also been commissioned to design the artwork for popular board-games and album covers. Simon's art in all mediums is utterly unique and a true reflection of the artist. |
